25 Themes In Coaching: No.2 Unmet Expectations

Have you ever been a victim of unmet expectations? The answer is YES. We all have. Often. The next theme that comes up in my coaching practice a lot is the concept of being attached to outcomes and navigating unmet expectations.

The sooner we realize that things don’t always go according to plan, the sooner we can reduce stress, discomfort, anger and anxiety. We all want that right? Yes again.

When we stay attached to a desired outcome, we miss the opportunity of the present. It’s normal to feel disappointed when things don’t go as we hope, however it’s important to remember that the plans we make are just intentions and not guaranteed outcomes.

Are you struggling with an unmet expectation or holding on to a particular outcome you hoped for? Here a few questions to consider:

  • What is true right now?

  • What is it costing you to keep hoping for ________________ when it may or may not happen?

For deeper work through staying unattached to outcomes, let’s set up a sample coaching session so you can see what 1:1 coaching would look like and move through your stuckness into the abundance that’s waiting for you.
